When I was a little girl my papa had a pig, named Charlotte. My papa loved that pig. He bathed it everyday, talked to it constantly, and spoiled it with food that the pig seemed to love. He seriously treated this pig like a child. However what I remember about that pig is that it stunk. The pig pen that papa kept her in was absolutely gross. No matter how much he bathed it , no matter how much he tried to clean the cage it was just gross gross gross. But you know what? Charlotte the pig never minded the smell. She didn’t care that her pen was just absolutely nasty. To her it was home, it was a great place to be. She didn’t see it as filthy…..her pen or even herself never took her breath away like it did ours.
Well today I was thinking, and people watching, and realized that sadly to say that is exactly how sin in this world is today. No one smells the stench of it today. No one seems to mind the filth in their lives. So many people are living in a sinful pig pen and they think its okay, they seem at home.
Just think about our world for a minute……..Back in 1940 or 1950 or 1970 or even in the 1980″s half the stuff that the world smiles at today…was it okay then? Divorce was never talked about like it was an option. Marriage was something that a man and woman took seriously. A commitment that they intended to keep through thick and thin. Also it was between a man and a woman. Genesis 2:24-25 For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh And the man and his wife were both naked and not ashamed. (NAS) I love everyone, just as the Lord loves them but as a Child of the most high God I have to stand upon his word and he says homosexuality is wrong. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 – “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (NIV)” Leviticus 18:22 – “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable. (NIV) But……the world is making it okay….trying to be politically correct.
Murder……today there are so many excuse for murder. temporary insanity, rage, justified homicide, self-defense, complete accident, mistaken identity, etc…….. However according to God murder is wrong…….Thou shalt not kill” -Exodus 20:13 One of the Ten Commandments……….hello!!!
Abortion…….never heard about it when I was little. However today…..they says is the womans choice. No, according the word of God he knows us before we are even conceived. Jeremiah 1:4-5
4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;(NIV Bible) I know horrible things happen, and sometimes we make mistakes…but I also know that I serve a God that can turn anything around that the devil meant to destroy us and turn it into a blessing. Genesis 50:20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.
Our language, our dress, our priorities, our church attendance…….so so many things have changed.
Now ask yourself why have so many things changed? Why are we okay with things that at one time we were not okay with? Answer……….jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
The answer is because we are giving into our lustful nature, our sinful nature. We are disobedient. We have become a nation and a people who says, “If it feels good it must be right. It’s my life and I am going to live it.” But my heart breaks at that nonsense because I know we were created for one thing…and one thing only……TO GLORIFY TO GOD~!!!!
So today….take a few moments and ask yourself….am I living in a sinful pig pen? Does the stench of sin make me turn my head? Or have I become okay with the smell? Have I truly applied the word of God and his standards on sin to my life? Tough questions I know. I too have realized that I need to quit making excuses for my own sins no matter how small or big….sin is sin. It is time that we as children of God realize that all sin grieves the very heart of God. That all sin is self-destructive, harmful, and will come back to bite us in the butt eventually.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I know there has been so many times that I have made excuses for my sinful behavior, acts or even thoughts; when actually there is no real excuse. I repent today for every single time I have broken your heart. I am today making an oath to my precious Savior who died on the cross for me…to seek what is right, what is just, what is pure and what is holy and to turn my head at any sign or smell of sin. Lord I pray for my brothers and Sisters today that are lost and undone, who have not choose to leave their sinful behavior behind, that you do not give them one second of rest, at least not until they rest in your presence, grace and love.
I thank you Lord….I love you Lord
In Jesus Name
Amen
